VEX IQ Robotics Competition (VIQRC) — Elementary School Division Provincial Championship

Event Level:

One of the highest-level elementary school VEX IQ competitions in Ontario, where only teams that perform strongly in regional qualifiers can advance to the provincial championship.

Competition Format

The competition mainly includes three types of challenges:

1️⃣ Teamwork Challenge

Two teams form an alliance and collaborate on the same field to complete game tasks. Through strategy coordination and real-time communication, they aim to score as many points as possible within the time limit.

2️⃣ Skills Challenge

Each team competes individually. This includes Autonomous Coding Skills and Driver Skills, evaluating the robot’s performance, programming ability, and control.

3️⃣ Qualification Matches

Teams participate in multiple teamwork matches to accumulate ranking points, which determine the overall standings.

Throughout the event, students must not only design and refine their robots, but also engage in strategy discussions, on-the-spot decision-making, and teamwork under pressure.

The Significance of the Teamwork Champion Award

At this provincial championship, the team that included TechBlazers students demonstrated consistent robot performance, clear match strategies, and strong collaboration, ultimately winning the Teamwork Champion Award.

The Teamwork Champion Award is one of the most prestigious and competitive awards in the VEX IQ Robotics Competition. It recognizes the alliance that achieves the highest performance in teamwork matches.

Winning this award means the team must demonstrate excellence in:

  • Robot design and performance
  • Engineering and problem-solving skills
  • Strategic thinking during matches
  • Real-time communication and collaboration

Advancing to the World Championship

With this outstanding provincial victory, the team has also earned an invitation to the VEX Robotics World Championship.

Often regarded as one of the largest youth robotics competitions in the world, the event attracts top teams from more than 60 countries and regions every year. Competing on this global stage provides students with the opportunity to challenge themselves, exchange ideas, and learn alongside outstanding robotics teams from around the world.

TechBlazers is committed to providing students with systematic robotics and STEM education. From building structures and programming robots in class to developing strategies and teamwork in competitions, students gradually grow into independent thinkers and young problem-solving engineers.

This impressive performance at the provincial championship once again proves that when passion, hard work, and the right learning environment come together, children’s potential is limitless. We look forward to seeing them shine on the world stage!
