TechBlazers VEX Teams Invited to Richmond Hill City Hall, Mayor Personally Presents Awards and Recognition

What exciting sparks fly when young robotics enthusiasts meet the city’s “navigator”?

Members from Toronto’s TechBlazers VEX teams—16610A and 16610B—brought their passion for STEM innovation and practical achievements to Richmond Hill City Hall by special invitation. This remarkable exchange earned the students heartfelt recognition and encouragement from Mayor David West!

This invitation to City Hall stemmed from TechBlazers teams’ outstanding achievements in various competitions. The students proved themselves through their capabilities, not only pursuing technical excellence but also demonstrating exceptional abilities in teamwork and problem-solving.

These accomplishments have made them role models among their peers and shown Richmond Hill the unlimited potential of youth in STEM innovation. The mayor’s reception was the best recognition and encouragement for these young innovators!

Students who met with the mayor: Owen Fong, Kiera Chung, Nathan Chen, Eddy Liang, Timothy Qiu, Stuart Li, Joey Li, Jay Wang, Harrison Yao, Jiayang Yan, Ethan Li, Zixuan Feng, Yang Lyu, Zhenxuan Zhang, Zoe Ding

Heartwarming Exchange: A Mutual Connection Between Young Innovators and the Mayor

Upon entering City Hall, a warm atmosphere immediately embraced everyone. Mayor David West greeted the team members warmly and listened patiently as the students shared their explorations in robotics education, challenges faced in competitions, and their growth journey.

The team members showed no hesitation, sharing their experiences on-site, while the mayor praised the students’ perseverance and innovation.

Moment of Honor: Two Certificates, One Profound Recognition

The mayor presented certificates of honor to each member of the 16610 teams. Every word on these certificates represents the students’ perseverance and achievements in competitions—from repeated refinements during preparation to composed performance on the competition floor. This honor is the best affirmation of their efforts.

Meanwhile, TechBlazers, as a robotics learning center, also received a certificate of recognition from the mayor. This honor belongs not only to the center’s coaching team but also to every parent who supports their child’s STEM dreams and every student who bravely explores the world of robotics. It strengthens our resolve: to help more young people experience the magic of engineering and technology!

Creative Gift in Return: 3D Printed Keepsakes, Conveying Young Hearts

At the end of the event, team members also prepared a special gift for the mayor—creative figurines personally designed and 3D printed by the students.

These small figurines hold not just the students’ creativity but also their gratitude to Richmond Hill for supporting youth STEM innovation.

Moving forward, TechBlazers will continue with this original aspiration, constantly improving in robotics education and competition practice: we will optimize our curriculum to make technical learning more engaging; we will organize more hands-on activities to turn innovative thinking into reality; we will accompany more students as they bravely explore and grow confidently on the path of STEM innovation.

We also look forward to more opportunities to partner with Richmond Hill in the future, building a broader platform for youth STEM innovation, allowing more “young innovators” to shine here and write their own inspiring stories!
