At TechBlazers, we believe that personalized learning starts with proper placement. Every student who joins our programs—whether through a trial class or direct enrollment—undergoes a technical assessment to ensure they are matched with a class that reflects their current skill level and learning pace.
The placement assessment is designed to be interactive and low-pressure, conducted during trial sessions or the student’s first official class. Depending on the course stream—Robotics or Programming—students complete hands-on activities such as constructing simple mechanisms with LEGO or writing basic code using beginner-friendly environments.
This process allows instructors to evaluate both technical ability and learning readiness in a real classroom setting, setting the foundation for confident, challenge-appropriate learning.
What We Assess #
TechBlazers uses a structured 4-point rubric across key skill categories:
- Technical Build Quality – Precision, structural stability, and functional execution
- Design Complexity – Creativity and purposeful use of components or logic
- Sensor Usage & Integration – Application of sensors in robotics tasks (if applicable)
- Programming Understanding – Comprehension of code structure, logic, and commands
- Problem-Solving & Independence – Ability to troubleshoot and work without constant guidance
- Time Management – Pacing and focus during timed challenges
- Enthusiasm & Engagement – Willingness to participate, ask questions, and explore
Each category is scored on a scale from 1 (emerging) to 4 (advanced). Instructors use this rubric to provide clear placement recommendations—Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced—along with notes for any areas needing support or enrichment.
